80 x 200 cm rugs: Ideal for hallways and more

80 x 200 runners are built for narrow spots where a full-size rug would be too wide to fit or too big to make sense. At 80 cm it’s wide enough to feel substantial underfoot without crowding a hallway, and 200 cm is long enough to run the length of a standard entryway, sit in front of a kitchen counter, or lie alongside a bed. It’s also the practical choice for awkward, in-between spots: the foot of the stairs, a narrow galley kitchen, or a small room where a standard rectangular rug simply won’t clear the walls.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. At 80 cm wide it fills a typical hallway width without overwhelming it, and 200 cm is enough to cover most standard entryways and corridor runs. For an especially long hallway, a single longer runner will look more considered than two rugs laid end to end.

Yes – this is one of the most common uses for this size. It’s long enough to run the length of a bed frame, so it’s underfoot as soon as you get up, on one or both sides.

Not usually. At 80 cm wide it’s narrower than most dining tables need, so chairs would sit off the rug when pulled out. It works better as a runner along a console table, sideboard or kitchen counter; for a dining table, a larger rectangular size is a better fit.

Cotton is a popular choice – thin, hard-wearing and easy to clean underfoot traffic. Wool adds warmth and natural stain resistance and holds up well over years of use. Save higher pile for a bedroom or landing, where comfort matters more than easy cleaning.

At Rugvista, we have an extensive range of 80 x 200 runner rugs – from single-coloured and neutral beige or grey designs that blend into a hallway, to bolder striped, geometric and floral patterns that really stand out.
