What shades of blue are available?

Rugvista’s blue rugs come in various shades, so you can match the depth of colour to the room:Light blue rugs: Soft and airy, a good fit for smaller or darker rooms.Duck egg blue rugs: A muted, gentle light shade with a hint of green.Dusty blue grey rugs: Subtle and neutral-leaning, easy to pair with almost any scheme.Sky blue rugs: A brighter, cheerful mid-tone.Cobalt blue rugs: A vivid, more of a statement mid-to-deep blue.Navy blue rugs: The deepest shade in the range, and the most grounding in a room.

Where should I place a blue rug in a living room, bedroom or dining room?

Living room: A mid-to-dark blue living room rug gives the room a clear focal point that still sits comfortably with neutral or wood-toned furniture. Rest at least the front legs of your sofa and chairs on the rug so it anchors the seating area instead of floating in the middle of the floor.Bedroom: A softer, dustier blue bedroom rug suits works well, since it’s the first colour underfoot in the morning in a room that’s meant to feel calm rather than make a statement. Centre the rug under the end two-thirds of the bed, so there’s an even border either side to step onto rather than just a strip peeking out.Dining room: A mid-to-dark blue dining room rug is a practical pick here, as it hides everyday spills and crumbs better than a pale rug would in a room that gets heavy use. Leave 60–70 cm of rug beyond the table on every side, so all the chairs stay on the rug even when pulled out to sit down.

Blue rugs are one of the easiest ways to bring colour into a room, ranging from soft light blue and duck egg through dusty blue-grey to rich navy and cobalt. A lighter shade keeps a room feeling airy, while navy reads as a bolder, more grounding tone in a larger space. Explore our range below to find the perfect blue rug for your space.

Why choose a blue rug

Blue works harder than most rug colours because it’s flexible: light and mid-tones tend to fit an existing scheme without forcing you to redecorate around them, while a darker navy or cobalt reads as a considered, deliberate styling choice. A mid-to-dark blue also hides everyday marks, spills and pet hair better than a pale neutral does, which is one of the practical reasons it’s such a popular choice for busy rooms like living rooms and hallways, as well as calmer spaces like bedrooms.

Frequently asked questions

Rugvista’s blue rugs come in various shades, so you can match the depth of colour to the room:

Light blue rugs: Soft and airy, a good fit for smaller or darker rooms.
Duck egg blue rugs: A muted, gentle light shade with a hint of green.
Dusty blue grey rugs: Subtle and neutral-leaning, easy to pair with almost any scheme.
Sky blue rugs: A brighter, cheerful mid-tone.
Cobalt blue rugs: A vivid, more of a statement mid-to-deep blue.
Navy blue rugs: The deepest shade in the range, and the most grounding in a room.

Blue rugs sit well with neutrals such as cream, beige and light grey, and with warm wood tones in flooring and furniture. A cobalt or navy blue rug also pairs naturally with a blue sofa or curtains in a similar tone — just vary the shade slightly so the room doesn’t look flat.

Blue rugs at Rugvista span the full range: Small blue rugs (under 160 cm — a hallway runner spot or beside the bed), medium blue rugs (160–229 cm — a smaller living room or bedroom), large blue rugs (230–349 cm — enough to sit a sofa on or go under a dining table) and extra large blue rugs (350 cm and up — open-plan or bigger living spaces). Not sure which size fits your room? Our rug size guide walks you through it.

A lighter blue, such as duck egg or soft blue-grey, reflects more light and can make a small room feel more open. Navy and other dark blues absorb light, so they work best in larger rooms, or where you want the rug to ground the space rather than open it up.
