Afghan Fine - A Warm Welcome Home

A truly one-of-a-kind hand-knotted runner from Afghanistan, bringing warmth and timeless character to your hallway with its rich tones and classic geometric motifs.

Introduce a sense of grounded warmth and comfort to your home with this exceptional hand-knotted runner. Crafted from wool, the pile offers a soft, dense texture underfoot that naturally insulates against cold floors while absorbing sound, making it a practical and inviting addition to busy hallways or entryways.

As a one-of-a-kind piece, this runner carries a unique story that cannot be replicated. No two rugs are ever identical, meaning the specific variations in its geometric patterns and rich colour shading belong solely to this piece, giving your home a distinct character that stands out from mass-produced designs.

Woven in Afghanistan, this piece represents a proud tradition of craftsmanship. The deep tones and structured motifs create a calm, welcoming atmosphere, while the natural durability of the wool ensures that the runner will maintain its beauty and structure even in high-traffic areas of your home.

The tradition of Afghan weaving is deeply rooted in the nomadic and village cultures of Central Asia and the Middle East. For generations, weavers in these regions have passed down their skills, creating rugs that serve both as essential household items and as expressions of cultural identity.

The Akhche designation refers to a specific and highly respected weaving style within the northern regions of Afghanistan. These rugs are celebrated for their robust construction and their use of traditional, deep colour palettes that reflect the natural dyes and materials available to the local weavers.

This runner features the classic elephant-foot gul motifs, which are characteristic of the region's design heritage. Enclosed by a series of detailed geometric borders, these repeating medallions create a balanced and harmonious composition that has been refined over centuries of tribal weaving history.

Owning an authentic Afghan runner connects your home to a rich lineage of craftsmanship. These pieces are highly valued by collectors and homeowners alike for their honest, rustic character and their ability to bring a sense of history and enduring quality into modern living spaces.

This runner is entirely hand-knotted by skilled artisans in Afghanistan, using traditional techniques that require immense patience and precision. Every single knot is tied by hand, creating a strong, resilient structure that machine-made rugs simply cannot replicate.

With a substantial weight of 6.6 kg for its 277 x 77 cm size, this piece demonstrates a dense and heavy construction. This weight is a direct result of the generous amount of wool used and the tightness of the weave, ensuring the runner lies flat and secure on your floor while offering excellent longevity.
