This one-of-a-kind Berber runner brings a warm and inviting feel to your home, making it a perfect choice for hallways or narrower spaces. Crafted from wool, the low 12 mm pile offers a soft, tactile surface underfoot while remaining highly practical for daily use.

The contemporary design features abstract horizontal blocks of blue and grey on a light background, creating a calm yet distinct visual character. Because this piece is entirely unique, you are acquiring a rug that cannot be replicated, ensuring your home features a design unlike any other.

Originating from Afghanistan, this runner combines traditional hand-knotted construction with a modern aesthetic. The natural wool fibers provide inherent warmth and comfort, making your floors feel cosy and grounded.

Design

The runner features a light neutral background adorned with horizontal blocks of blue, grey, and teal.

Irregular bands of abstract, fragmented stripes and small geometric motifs create a modern, textured appearance.

Berber rugs have a rich history rooted in North African tribal traditions, where they were originally woven for warmth and protection in mountainous regions. Over time, these traditional weaving techniques and symbolic design languages have inspired weavers across different regions, including Afghanistan, where artisans adapt these classic concepts into contemporary expressions.

The term Berber in modern rug making refers to the distinctive style characterised by thick, soft wool and minimalist or abstract geometric patterns. This fusion of North African design heritage with Afghan weaving expertise results in a rug that carries global cultural significance while fitting seamlessly into contemporary homes.

The visual language of this runner relies on abstract horizontal stripes and fragmented geometric motifs. Traditionally, these patterns told stories of daily life, nature, and personal journeys, and today they offer a beautiful, artistic touch that breaks the monotony of long corridors.

Owning a contemporary Afghan Berber rug means bringing a piece of living textile art into your home. These rugs are highly valued by collectors and design enthusiasts alike for their ability to bridge traditional handcraft with modern interior sensibilities.

This runner is hand-knotted by skilled artisans in Afghanistan, a process that requires patience, precision, and decades of shared knowledge. Every single knot is placed individually by hand, creating a structural integrity and character that machine-made alternatives simply cannot match.

Weighing 9.7 kg for its 323 x 75 cm size, the substantial weight of this piece reflects the density of the wool and the tightness of the weave. This solid construction ensures the runner lies flat and secure on your floor, offering lasting durability and a soft, cushioned feel underfoot.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
