Berber Colourful - A Warm and Grounded Touch for Your Floor

Discover a truly one-of-a-kind Afghan rug featuring expressive diamond motifs and soft wool pile. This exact piece exists nowhere else.

Step onto a surface of genuine comfort with this handmade Afghan rug, featuring a soft 100% wool pile that brings natural warmth and a cosy feel to your daily living space. The dense texture provides a pleasant tactile experience underfoot while also helping to absorb sound, creating a calmer atmosphere in your home.

Woven with a knot density of 90,000 knots per m2, this piece delivers a well-constructed pile that supports lasting resilience and helps maintain its appearance over years of everyday use. Each individual knot contributes to a denser, more supportive structure that feels substantial and comfortable as you walk or sit upon it.

As a truly one-of-a-kind creation from Afghanistan, no two rugs are identical, meaning this exact pattern and color combination will never be made again. Owning this piece gives you something genuinely unique that carries the personal touch of the artisan who crafted it.

Originating from the skilled weaving traditions of Afghanistan, this rug acts as a natural anchor for your interior, bringing character and authentic craftsmanship straight to your living room or bedroom floor.

Berber-style rugs trace their roots back to the indigenous weaving communities of North Africa and mountainous regions, where families traditionally crafted thick wool floor coverings for warmth and shelter against cold climates. Over generations, these distinct design sensibilities spread and influenced weavers in other regions, including Afghanistan, where local artisans adapted the geometric storytelling traditions into their own distinct regional style.

The 90,000 knots per m2 density refers to the number of individual wool ties secured within every square metre of the foundation. A higher knot count directly translates to finer pattern details, a denser and more luxurious pile, and superior durability that ensures the rug holds its beauty for generations to come.

This rug features a striking arrangement of diamond motifs and playful symbols across a teal field, framed by balanced symmetry that honors traditional tribal iconography. The use of varied accent tones creates a lively yet grounded visual rhythm that has defined nomadic and village weaving for centuries.

Collecting rugs from this tradition means acquiring a piece of living cultural heritage. Each handmade creation preserves ancient craft techniques and storytelling methods, allowing you to bring genuine human skill and enduring quality into your home.

This rug is entirely hand-knotted by skilled artisans who carefully tie each individual strand of 100% wool onto the foundation by hand. A total knot count of approximately 111,000 knots has been meticulously placed across the 137 x 90 cm surface.

Creating a piece of this density requires months of dedicated human labor and precise calculation. This careful method ensures a sharp pattern definition, a sturdy pile, and long-term durability that machines simply cannot replicate.

Weighing 4.9 kg, the substantial construction reflects the generous amount of natural material and time invested in its creation, resulting in a solid, reliable floor covering designed to last.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
