Berber Colourful - A Warm and Vibrant Touch for Your Home

Bring rich warmth and vibrant character into your home with this unique handmade wool rug from Afghanistan.

Transform your living space with this distinctive handmade rug originating from Afghanistan, crafted to bring both visual interest and tactile comfort to your floors. Measuring 138 x 92 cm, it fits naturally into smaller seating areas, bedrooms, or reading nooks where a cosy, personal touch makes all the difference.

The 10 mm thick pile consists of 100% wool, offering a soft and comforting surface underfoot while providing natural warmth and sound-absorbing qualities that help create a calm atmosphere in any room.

With a knot density of 40,000 knots per m2, the construction delivers a durable and resilient pile that maintains its supportive feel and structural integrity through everyday use. Higher knot counts mean a tighter weave and superior longevity, ensuring your investment stands the test of time.

Because this is a truly one-of-a-kind piece, no two rugs are identical, meaning this exact colour combination and arrangement of motifs exists nowhere else and will never be replicated.

Woven in the rich rug-making traditions of Afghanistan, this piece carries forward centuries of regional craft heritage. Afghan weavers are renowned for their ability to blend traditional techniques with earthy wools, creating functional floor coverings that double as expressions of local culture.

The hand-knotted construction method requires tying individual strands of wool onto the foundation warp and weft threads, a time-tested process that creates a thick, enduring pile with natural resilience.

Drawing inspiration from traditional Berber and tribal aesthetics, the design features expressive geometric motifs and repeating patterns framed by detailed borders. The playful use of colour adds a modern vibrancy to a deeply traditional craft framework.

Rugs of this provenance are treasured by collectors and home enthusiasts alike for their authenticity, cultural weight, and the genuine human story woven into every single square centimetre.

This rug is entirely handmade through traditional hand-knotted techniques, reflecting hours of careful human effort and traditional skill passed down through generations. Artisans work meticulously to tie every individual knot by hand, ensuring the structure is dense and built to last.

With a total weight of 5.1 kg distributed across its 138 x 92 cm frame, the construction utilises a generous amount of material to achieve its substantial feel and weight.

The 40,000 knots per m2 density requires patience and precision, allowing the craftspeople to create defined patterns and a solid, durable pile that retains its quality over years of daily life.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
