Its generous circular silhouette is perfectly suited for formal dining areas or grand entryways, creating a balanced and inviting atmosphere. The pile offers a plush, tactile experience that feels soft underfoot while providing excellent sound absorption and comfort.

The artistry of this piece is defined by its intricate design, which features a central medallion surrounded by dense, delicate floral patterns. Every inch of the rug showcases the skill of its creation, with a deep, sophisticated colour palette that shifts subtly in the light. Because this is a truly one-of-a-kind creation, no two rugs are identical, making this a singular piece of art for your floor that will never be replicated.

Woven with a dense, high-quality wool pile, this rug is built to withstand the demands of daily life while maintaining its beauty for generations. The material provides a natural resilience and depth that synthetic alternatives simply cannot match. Owning this rug means welcoming a piece of tradition into your space, where the quality of the materials and the precision of the design work in harmony to elevate your interior.

The sheer presence of this rug is matched by its durability, ensuring that it remains a cherished part of your home for years to come. Whether placed in a traditional or contemporary setting, its timeless aesthetic bridges the gap between heritage craft and modern living. Investing in such a piece is an investment in lasting quality, as its robust construction is designed to age gracefully within your home.

Bidjar rugs originate from the Kurdish region of the Middle East, specifically the town of Bijar. These rugs have long been celebrated for their incredible durability, often referred to as the Iron Rugs of the region. This reputation is well-earned, as they are constructed with a unique weaving technique that creates an exceptionally dense foundation, ensuring they remain robust even after decades of heavy use.

The hallmark of a traditional Bidjar rug is its heavy, solid construction, which relies on a specific method of wetting the cotton foundation and packing the knots tightly. This technique forces the pile to stand upright, resulting in a stiff, firm texture that is highly resistant to wear. This structural density is not just a technical feature but a hallmark of the region's dedication to creating functional art that stands the test of time.

Visually, these rugs are known for their bold, often complex floral and medallion designs, which draw inspiration from both nomadic traditions and more formal court styles. The field is frequently filled with the Herati pattern, a sophisticated motif consisting of a central flower surrounded by leaves that mimic the movement of a fish. This particular piece showcases a masterful execution of these traditional motifs, framed by elegant, detailed borders.

Owning a Bidjar rug is an opportunity to connect with a rich cultural history of nomadic craftsmanship and settled artistry. They are highly sought after by collectors for their combination of structural strength and artistic complexity. To possess such a rug is to hold a piece of Middle Eastern heritage, demonstrating an appreciation for the skill and time required to produce a work of such enduring value.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans, a process that requires immense patience and precision. With a density of 490,000 knots per m2, the creation of this 385 x 385 cm piece is an extraordinary undertaking that represents months of dedicated labour. This high knot count allows for the exceptionally intricate patterns and fine lines that give the rug its distinctive, high-definition visual character.

The structural integrity of this piece is further evidenced by its substantial weight of 74.1 kg. This weight reflects the heavy use of premium-grade materials, ensuring a dense, compact foundation that resists shifting and wear. The combination of its massive scale and tight knotting creates a level of durability and pile density that stands as a testament to the artisan's commitment to quality.

Every knot is placed by hand, ensuring a level of uniformity and detail that machines cannot replicate. This hands-on approach is what allows the rug to hold its shape and pile quality over decades of use. By choosing this rug, you are supporting a tradition of manual craft that values the human touch above all else, resulting in a floor covering that is as much a feat of engineering as it is a work of art.

Ull
