Bokhara 2ply - Crafted to Last a Lifetime

Discover a truly one-of-a-kind handmade Pakistan Bokhara 2ply rug featuring 100% wool and rich traditional motifs.

Step onto the wonderful warmth and soft tactile comfort of this genuine 100% wool rug. Measuring 151 x 92 cm with a plush 13 mm pile, it brings a cosy and inviting atmosphere to your living room, bedroom, or study while effectively dampening sound for a calmer home environment.

The rich red field provides a striking visual anchor that instantly brings depth and character to your floor space. Natural wool fibers offer a naturally resilient surface that feels deeply comforting underfoot while standing up to everyday family life with ease.

With a density of 250,000 knots per m2, this rug delivers exceptional pattern definition and a thick, supportive pile that holds its shape and beauty over years of daily use. Higher knot counts mean each individual strand is packed securely, resulting in a denser and more luxurious surface that resists crushing.

This is a strictly one-of-a-kind piece. Because no two handmade rugs are identical, the specific nuances of colour and knotting on this 151 x 92 cm floor covering mean that this exact rug exists nowhere else in the world and can never be recreated.

Bokhara rugs take their name from the ancient Silk Road trading hub of Bukhara in Central Asia, though the finest examples today are woven by master craftspeople in Pakistan. This rich tradition reflects centuries of cultural exchange, where nomadic motifs were refined into the sophisticated compositions seen today.

The 2ply designation in the construction means that the pile is crafted using two strands of wool twisted together before knotting. This technique produces a significantly denser, more lustrous, and longer-lasting pile compared to single-ply alternatives, ensuring the rug maintains its rich appearance over decades.

Signature design elements of this tradition include repeating gul motifs, which are octagonal or elephant-foot medallions arranged in orderly rows across the field, framed by precise geometric borders. The deep red background tone is classic to the style, creating a warm and grounded focal point for traditional and classic interiors.

Owning a hand-knotted piece from this heritage means acquiring a true work of functional art with genuine cultural weight. It represents months of dedicated human skill and connects your living space to a long lineage of textile artistry.

This rug is entirely handmade using traditional hand-knotted techniques passed down through generations of skilled artisans in Pakistan. Weaving a piece of this size with a density of 250,000 knots per m2 requires hundreds of hours of precise manual labor, resulting in an approximate total of 347,000 individually tied knots.

The 3.5 kg weight reflects the dense construction and generous amount of natural wool invested into the foundation. Every single knot is set by hand, ensuring a level of structural integrity and pattern clarity that simply cannot be replicated by any machine.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.

Cotton

Cotton is a natural material that makes them a suitable option for people with allergies. The material is soft, durable and resilient, which makes them practical and comfortable for high-traffic areas such as the hallway, kitchen, and bathroom.
