The Hamadan region is located in the western part of the Middle East and is famous for its long-standing tradition of rug weaving. For centuries, households in this area have produced rugs that reflect the local culture, using materials and techniques passed down through generations.

The term Hamadan refers to a wide variety of rugs produced in the city and hundreds of surrounding villages. While the designs can vary significantly from one village to another, they are known for their sturdy construction and the use of high-quality wool that provides excellent durability.

This runner features traditional motifs often found in Middle Eastern weaving, such as intricate floral and geometric patterns. These designs are typically framed by a formal decorative border that anchors the composition and showcases the skilled work of the weaver.

Collecting a rug from this tradition is a way to preserve a piece of living history. These rugs are valued not only for their beauty but for the cultural heritage they carry, representing a standard of skill and dedication that has defined Middle Eastern textiles for centuries.

This rug is entirely hand-knotted, a process that requires immense skill and dedication. The artisan carefully ties each knot by hand, ensuring the pattern remains sharp and the pile is consistently dense across the entire surface of the runner.

With a weight of 14.8 kg, this rug demonstrates the generous amount of high-quality wool used in its construction. This density is a testament to the time and effort invested in its creation, resulting in a robust, heavy-duty floor covering that provides both stability and comfort.

The precision of the hand-knotting process is reflected in the fine detail of the geometric and floral motifs. By choosing a hand-knotted piece, you are supporting a traditional craft that focuses on longevity and quality, ensuring that the structure of the rug remains intact even with frequent use.
