Hamadan rugs take their name from one of the oldest cities in the Middle East, located in the western part of the region. This area has long been a hub for a diverse range of weaving traditions, where local craftspeople have developed distinct styles that blend regional aesthetics with centuries-old techniques.

The construction of these rugs is defined by a focus on durability and practical utility. Using a foundation that provides a stable base for the Wool pile, these rugs are built to be used and enjoyed. The resilience of this construction is a hallmark of the region, ensuring that the rugs can handle the demands of active households while maintaining their visual appeal.

Visually, these runners are often characterised by bold, geometric motifs and central medallions that draw the eye along the length of the rug. The use of repeating patterns and decorative borders is a classic feature of this tradition, reflecting a design language that has been refined over many generations of weavers.

Owning a piece from this tradition is an opportunity to connect with a rich cultural history. These rugs are valued not only for their aesthetic beauty but for the skill and heritage they represent. Each piece serves as a testament to the enduring nature of craft and the importance of preserving traditional methods in the modern home.

This runner is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate countless hours to ensuring every detail is perfectly placed. This traditional technique involves wrapping individual strands of Wool around the foundation, a process that creates a robust and high-quality pile capable of enduring for generations.

The density of this rug is highlighted by its total weight of 13.8 kg, which reflects the substantial amount of high-quality material invested in its creation. This weight is a clear indicator of the density and durability of the construction, providing a heavy, stable runner that stays firmly in place.

The time and precision required to complete a piece of this size and complexity are significant. Every knot represents a deliberate human effort, resulting in a finished product that is far superior to machine-made alternatives in both character and longevity.
