Black / Dark redRunner120 x 322 cm

The Hosseinabad name is synonymous with the rich weaving traditions of the Middle East, specifically from the Hamadan region. These rugs are born from a long-standing cultural heritage where weaving is not just a craft, but a vital expression of local identity and storytelling passed down through generations.

Understanding the quality of a rug like this involves looking at its construction, which prioritises a sturdy, long-lasting foundation. The use of robust wool in the pile is a hallmark of the region, chosen for its ability to hold vibrant dyes and resist wear, ensuring that the rug matures gracefully over time.

Design-wise, these runners often feature repeating geometric patterns and stylised floral motifs that reflect the artistic language of their origin. The inclusion of a strong, decorative border is a classic feature that frames the central field, providing a sense of order and balance that draws the eye across the length of the runner.

Owning a Hosseinabad runner is an opportunity to connect with a legacy of skill and patience. These pieces are highly valued by collectors and those who appreciate the cultural weight of hand-crafted items, representing a commitment to authenticity in an era of mass production.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate significant time to every single detail. By carefully knotting individual strands of wool onto a sturdy foundation, the makers ensure a level of durability and density that simply cannot be achieved through machine-made processes.

Given the size of 322 x 120 cm and the substantial weight of 13.5 kg, it is clear that a significant amount of material and labour has been invested in this piece. This density is the mark of a well-constructed runner, guaranteeing that the design remains sharp and the pile stays plush despite regular use.

The creation of such a runner is a labour-intensive process that requires immense focus and expertise. Every row of knots contributes to the final structural integrity, resulting in a floor covering that is built to endure while showcasing the authentic, human touch inherent in hand-knotted craftsmanship.
