HosseinabadHand KnottedRug

Dark red / Black288 x 392 cm

The Hosseinabad rug tradition hails from a region in the Middle East known for its deep-rooted weaving heritage. These rugs are born from a culture that views carpet making not just as a craft, but as a primary form of artistic and social expression that has been passed down through generations.

The term Hosseinabad refers to the specific village or district where these rugs are traditionally produced. The local weavers are known for their distinct approach to knotting, which creates a robust and reliable foundation. This regional expertise ensures that each rug benefits from a construction style honed by centuries of local practice.

Visually, these rugs are celebrated for their bold use of colour and balance. The design often features a central medallion surrounded by a sea of delicate, repeating floral or geometric motifs, all held within a formal, decorative border. The harmony between the central focus and the surrounding field is a hallmark of this tradition.

Collecting a Hosseinabad piece is an investment in cultural heritage. Because each rug is individually crafted, they carry the personal touch of the weaver, offering an authentic experience that connects the modern home to ancient traditions. They are highly valued by those who appreciate the lasting beauty of handmade goods.

This piece is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans, a process that requires immense focus and patience. Every individual knot is carefully placed by hand, ensuring the structural integrity and longevity of the finished rug.

Given the substantial weight of 56.4 kg, this rug reflects a high density of material and a commitment to quality that mass-produced alternatives cannot match. The sheer volume of Wool used in its construction results in a durable pile that retains its shape and texture under regular use.

The complexity of the design, featuring intricate borders and a detailed central medallion, showcases the artisan's ability to execute precise patterns through manual labour. This level of craftsmanship ensures a high-quality finished product that stands as a testament to the time and skill invested during its creation.
