Hosseinabad rugs originate from the Hamadan region of the Middle East, a historic area renowned for its long-standing tradition of rug weaving. These pieces often draw inspiration from the diverse nomadic and village cultures of the region, evolving over generations to become highly sought-after examples of local craft.

The term Hosseinabad refers to a specific village tradition where weavers employ distinct, resilient techniques to create rugs that are as durable as they are beautiful. This commitment to quality means the pile is dense and sturdy, designed to withstand the rigours of daily life while maintaining a soft, comfortable texture underfoot.

Visually, these runners are often characterised by their bold use of colour and intricate, repeating geometric motifs. The design language frequently incorporates stylised floral patterns or medallions that reflect the local aesthetic, often framed by well-defined, decorative borders that pull the entire composition together.

Collecting a piece from this tradition is about more than just finding a floor covering. It is an investment in a storied craft that has been passed down through families for centuries. By choosing this runner, you are preserving the heritage and the human effort that defines the unique character of Middle Eastern textile arts.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate countless hours to ensuring every strand is perfectly placed. This traditional technique is what gives the runner its exceptional durability and allows for the precise, detailed motifs that define its appearance.

With a weight of 12.2 kg, this runner demonstrates a substantial and dense construction that speaks to the quality of the materials used. The significant weight per square metre is a direct result of the dense knotting process, which creates a resilient pile capable of withstanding daily use while maintaining its plush, tactile quality.
