This rug is truly one of a kind. Because each piece is crafted with individual care, no two rugs are ever identical, meaning you are bringing home a unique work of art that will never be replicated. Owning this rug allows you to enjoy a level of distinctiveness that mass-produced items simply cannot match.

The intricate design features a central medallion surrounded by delicate floral motifs, showcasing the high level of detail made possible by its dense construction. This density ensures that the pattern remains sharp and defined, while also contributing to the durability of the rug, allowing it to maintain its beauty for years to come.

Originating from the renowned weaving traditions of India, this rug represents a commitment to quality and heritage. It serves as a sophisticated focal point for your home, blending seamlessly into your interior while adding a touch of grace and intentional design to your favourite living areas.

Kashmir silk rugs are celebrated globally for their connection to the ancient artistic traditions of India. The region has long been a hub for textile excellence, where the art of weaving has been passed down through generations, evolving into the refined, highly detailed style that defines these pieces today.

The term 'hand-knotted' refers to the labour-intensive process where individual strands are tied onto a foundation, creating a structure that is both robust and flexible. This method is critical for producing the intricate, flowing floral motifs common in Kashmir designs, as it allows the weaver to achieve a level of curve and complexity impossible with other techniques.

Visually, these rugs are defined by their sophisticated colour palettes and formal compositions. Often featuring a central medallion and ornate, scrolling floral borders, they draw inspiration from historical garden motifs and classical textile arts. The use of a dark background in this particular piece makes the lighter, vibrant floral elements pop, creating a striking contrast that is a hallmark of premium craftsmanship.

Collecting a Kashmir silk rug is an investment in cultural heritage and refined skill. These rugs are valued not only for their aesthetic appeal but for the stories they carry and the immense human effort required to bring them to life. Owning one is a way to connect with a storied history of artistry that continues to thrive in the modern home.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted, a traditional craft that requires immense skill and patience. With a density of 490,000 knots per m2, the artisan has placed every single knot by hand to ensure the precision and clarity of the complex floral design.

Given the size of 247 x 173 cm and the high knot count, this piece represents months of focused work. The weight of 12.8 kg is a testament to the generous amount of material used, resulting in a solid, high-quality foundation that speaks to the dedication behind its creation.

The process of hand-knotting at this level of detail is a time-honoured practice that transforms raw materials into a durable, lasting treasure. By investing in this piece, you are supporting a tradition of craftsmanship where human effort and technical expertise come together to create something of exceptional value.

Bomull
