Kazak FineHand KnottedRug

Brown / Dark red84 x 126 cm

Kazak rugs trace their origins to the rugged Caucasus region, where nomadic and village weavers created bold, geometric designs. Over time, these traditional patterns migrated, and today some of the finest contemporary interpretations are crafted by skilled weavers in Afghanistan.

The designation Fine in a Kazak rug indicates a more refined weaving technique. This tighter weave allows the artisans to render the traditional geometric patterns with sharper definition and greater clarity, resulting in a more detailed and polished finish.

The visual language of this piece is defined by its striking tribal motifs and structured borders. Traditionally, these geometric symbols and medallions served as personal or tribal identifiers, carrying stories of the weavers' lives and surroundings.

Owning a contemporary Kazak rug connects your home to centuries of nomadic art. Valued by collectors and homeowners alike, these rugs are appreciated for their bold graphic quality, rich colour palettes, and enduring cultural significance.

This rug is entirely hand-knotted by skilled weavers in Afghanistan, representing many weeks of focused physical effort and patient craftsmanship. Every single knot is tied by hand, creating a durable structure that machine processes simply cannot replicate.

With a weight of 3.2 kg for its compact 126 x 84 cm size, the rug demonstrates a dense and sturdy construction. This substantial weight relative to its size is a clear indicator of the generous amount of wool used and the tightness of the weave.

The handmade process ensures that every detail has been carefully considered, resulting in a robust piece of textile art that is built to withstand the test of time while retaining its shape and beauty.
