Keshan FineHand KnottedRug

Brown / Dark yellow136 x 230 cm

The Keshan rug tradition originates from the historic city of Kashan in the Middle East, a region renowned for its long history of textile production and artistic innovation. These rugs are highly regarded for their sophisticated designs, which often draw inspiration from the classical garden patterns and architectural motifs found in the area's rich heritage.

Technical excellence is a hallmark of the Keshan style, characterised by a specific approach to knotting that creates a dense and durable surface. This method is vital for the longevity of the rug, as it allows for the intricate, curvilinear patterns that define the category to remain crisp and clear throughout generations of use.

The visual language of a Keshan rug is typically centred around a classic medallion, surrounded by a field of flowing floral sprays and vines. These motifs are often framed by elaborate, multi-layered borders that provide a sense of balance and formal structure to the composition, making them a staple in refined interiors.

Owning a piece from this tradition represents an investment in cultural heritage and skilled labour. These rugs are collected not only for their aesthetic appeal but for the way they embody the dedication and history of generations of weavers who have perfected this craft over hundreds of years.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted, a process that reflects hundreds of hours of dedicated labour by skilled artisans. With a density of 250,000 knots per m2, the level of precision achieved in the pattern is exceptional, resulting in a sharp, refined design that is only possible through this traditional method.

The weight of 11.6 kg across its 230 x 136 cm size is a testament to the quality and density of the materials used. This significant weight indicates a robust construction that offers both structural integrity and a luxurious, substantial feel that machine-made alternatives simply cannot match.

Each knot is placed individually by hand, creating a resilient pile that is designed to retain its shape and beauty over time. This intensive approach ensures that every inch of the rug is crafted to the highest standard, justifying its status as a premium, long-lasting investment for your home.
