Keshan rugs originate from the historic city of Kashan in the Middle East, a region renowned for its long-standing tradition of weaving some of the most sought-after textiles in the world. Situated along ancient trade routes, the city became a hub for master weavers who developed a style that blends technical precision with artistic flair.

The term hand-knotted refers to the traditional method where individual strands of Wool are tied onto a foundation, creating a pile that is exceptionally durable and rich in texture. This process is essential for creating the fine detail and depth of colour that define these rugs, ensuring that the pile remains lustrous and vibrant for many years.

The signature design of a Keshan rug typically features a central medallion surrounded by elaborate floral sprays and scrolling vines. The borders are often equally detailed, framing the field with repeating motifs that create a sense of balance and harmony. This rug captures that classic essence while showcasing the specific creative expression of its maker.

Collectors value these rugs for their cultural significance and the level of skill required to produce them. Owning a piece from this tradition is more than just a decor choice; it is an appreciation of a craft that has been passed down through generations, representing a legacy of beauty and resilience.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate months of focused effort to its creation. Each individual knot is placed with precision, resulting in a dense and durable construction that is built to stand the test of time.

With a knot density of 160,000 knots per m2, the level of detail achieved in the intricate floral patterns is remarkable. This density ensures a crispness of design and a resilient pile that maintains its beauty even in high-traffic areas, reflecting the immense human skill invested in every square centimetre.

The craftsmanship is further evidenced by its substantial weight of 45 kg, which speaks to the generous amount of high-quality material used. This weight provides stability and a premium feel, confirming that this rug has been constructed with the utmost attention to detail and long-term performance.
