Dark red / Brown300 x 405 cm

The Keshan rug tradition originates from the historic city of Kashan in the Middle East, a region long celebrated for its contributions to the textile arts. These rugs are deeply rooted in a history of luxury and artistic refinement, often associated with the royal workshops that produced some of the most famous carpets in history.

Keshan rugs are known for their intricate and formal designs, typically featuring a central medallion surrounded by dense, flowing floral patterns. These motifs are not merely decorative but are part of a sophisticated visual language that has evolved over centuries, blending local artistic sensibilities with classical influences.

The construction of these rugs is renowned for its durability and detail. They are traditionally crafted with a focus on creating a dense, firm pile that allows for the fine rendering of complex curves and delicate floral tendrils, which is a hallmark of the Keshan style.

Owning a Keshan rug is an invitation into a rich cultural heritage. These pieces are highly valued by collectors and enthusiasts who appreciate the skill and historical continuity they represent. By bringing this rug into your home, you are preserving a tradition of excellence that has been passed down through generations of skilled artisans.

This rug is entirely hand-knotted, a process that represents the pinnacle of traditional rug-making. The creation of such a piece involves an intensive, highly skilled effort that spans many months, as every single knot is tied individually by hand to ensure the structural integrity and precision of the design.

With a weight of 45 kg, this rug demonstrates a high density of materials, which directly translates into superior durability and a thicker, more luxurious pile. The substantial weight is a clear indicator of the generous amount of high-quality wool used and the significant time invested by the artisans to achieve such a robust and long-lasting foundation.

The precision required to execute the detailed patterns across such a large surface area is immense. This level of craftsmanship ensures that the intricate motifs remain sharp and clear, resulting in a floor covering that is both a functional home essential and a testament to the dedication of the craftspeople who brought it to life.
