Woven using 100% wool, this rug provides natural warmth and a cosy feel that makes stepping onto it a pleasure every day. The dense flatwoven construction absorbs sound effectively, helping to create a calmer and more peaceful home environment.

The rich colour palette brings life and character to your floor, showcasing vibrant tones that draw the eye and anchor your room layout. Every motif is thoughtfully placed, offering a visual depth that feels both grounded and inviting.

As a truly one-of-a-kind piece, no two rugs are identical, meaning this exact runner will never be made again. Owning it gives you something genuinely individual, carrying a distinct story and artistry that mass-produced floor coverings simply cannot replicate.

Flatwoven rugs from Afghanistan, known traditionally as kelims, hold a deep-rooted place in the textile heritage of Central Asia. Nomadic and village weavers have practiced these flatweaving techniques for centuries, using locally sourced materials and ancient patterns that reflect their surrounding environments and cultural identity.

The flatweave construction method means there is no pile. Instead, the warp and weft threads are tightly interlaced by hand to create a smooth, reversible textile. This traditional technique results in a sturdy, lightweight rug that sits flat against the floor and is remarkably easy to maintain.

Signature design elements in Afghan kelims typically feature bold geometric shapes, diamond motifs, and traditional tribal symbols rendered in striking colour combinations. The distinct patterning on this piece displays a rhythmic arrangement of geometric forms that pay homage to timeless weaving customs.

Collecting vintage-inspired kelims allows you to bring a piece of authentic cultural history into your home. These rugs are valued for their honest craftsmanship, durability, and the human story woven into every thread, making them cherished additions to modern living spaces.

This rug is entirely handmade through traditional hand-woven flatweave techniques passed down through generations in Afghanistan. Skilled artisans spend weeks carefully interlocking coloured threads by hand to create the crisp geometric patterns and durable structure.

Weighing 1.5 kg across its 199 x 73 cm dimensions, the flatwoven construction requires tightly packed weft threads beaten firmly into place. This intensive manual labour ensures a robust, tightly structured textile designed to withstand everyday foot traffic while maintaining its visual appeal.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
