Design

The rug features a vibrant multicolor composition with dominant shades of orange, blue, and yellow arranged in geometric formations. A prominent tribal pattern with large central diamond medallions and decorative borders spans the flat surface.

Kelim weaving in Afghanistan is an ancient tribal art form, developed by nomadic groups who crafted flatwoven textiles for practical use in daily life, such as tent covers, bags, and floor coverings.

The term Kelim refers to a flatwoven rug without a pile, created by tightly interweaving the warp and weft threads to produce a smooth, durable surface that is highly practical.

This style is celebrated for its bold geometric patterns, featuring stepped diamond medallions, tribal motifs, and intricate decorative borders in warm, earthy tones.

Owning an Afghan Kelim means bringing a piece of living history into your home, representing generations of weaving knowledge and a distinct cultural heritage.

This rug is hand-woven by skilled artisans using traditional flatweaving techniques. This method involves tightly interweaving the threads to create a durable, pile-free surface that is both lightweight and strong.

With a weight of 0.9 kg for its 116 x 78 cm size, the rug demonstrates a dense and even weave. This balanced construction is the result of careful tension control by the weaver, ensuring the rug lies flat and maintains its shape.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
