Kelim Ariana Trend - Natural Warmth for Your Home

Hand-woven in Afghanistan, this one-of-a-kind Kelim Ariana Trend rug brings a beautiful blend of traditional geometric patterns and soft, natural tones to your indoor space.

This hand-woven flatweave offers a wonderfully tactile experience underfoot, bringing a sense of organic comfort and warmth to any room. Its low profile makes it highly versatile, sitting neatly under furniture while helping to soften acoustics and create a cosy atmosphere in your living space.

Crafted entirely from wool, the rug benefits from the natural resilience and soft texture of this premium fibre. The wool naturally repels dirt and resists wear, ensuring that the beautiful, subtle colour variations remain bright and inviting for years to come.

As a truly one-of-a-kind creation, this rug carries a unique character that cannot be replicated. When you welcome this piece into your home, you are acquiring an individual work of art that will never be made again, making your interior feel deeply personal.

Originating from Afghanistan, this contemporary piece represents a living connection to regional weaving traditions. The harmonious blend of soft tones and geometric motifs reflects a modern interpretation of classic designs, perfect for contemporary homes.

The tradition of flatweaving in Afghanistan is a deeply rooted craft passed down through generations of nomadic and village weavers. These rugs were originally created for practical daily use, serving as warm floor coverings, blankets, and storage bags suited to a mobile lifestyle.

The term Kilim refers to a specific flatweaving technique where the pattern is created by tightly weaving the wool fibres together, resulting in a pileless surface. This method produces a lightweight yet exceptionally strong textile with identical patterns visible on both sides.

Signature design elements of the Ariana style include striking geometric diamonds and stepped motifs arranged in balanced, repeating layouts. The colour palette traditionally relies on natural shades, blending soft earth tones with gentle blues and warm terracottas to create a harmonious visual rhythm.

Owning an Afghan Kilim is a way to preserve a piece of living history and support the skilled artisans who maintain these ancient techniques. Each piece carries the personal touch and creative decisions of its weaver, making it a highly valued addition for collectors and homeowners alike.

This flatwoven rug is hand-woven using traditional horizontal or vertical looms, a process that requires immense patience and manual precision. Every single thread is carefully guided by hand to build the intricate geometric patterns, showcasing the weaver's exceptional skill.

With a weight of 1.6 kg for its compact 152 x 107 cm size, this rug demonstrates a tight, dense weave that ensures excellent structural integrity. The balance of weight and size indicates a carefully executed flatweave that lies flat on the floor and resists shifting.

The hand-weaving process for a piece of this quality takes weeks of dedicated labour, making each finished rug a reflection of human craft. This level of personal involvement ensures a durable construction that machine-made alternatives simply cannot match.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
