Kelim Ariana Trend - A Touch of Warmth for Your Home

Hand-woven in Afghanistan, this one-of-a-kind Kelim Ariana Trend rug brings a beautiful geometric warmth to your floor with its rich, natural wool flatweave.

This hand-woven flatweave brings a cosy and inviting feel to your living space. Its low profile makes it highly versatile, fitting easily under doors and furniture while offering a soft, warm layer underfoot that helps to absorb sound and make your room feel more grounded.

Crafted entirely from natural wool, this piece highlights the beautiful characteristics of organic fibres. Wool is naturally durable and resilient, meaning it repels dirt and handles daily home life beautifully while retaining its rich colours and soft texture over time.

As a one-of-a-kind creation, this piece carries a distinct personality that cannot be replicated. Knowing that no other home will have this exact rug adds a special layer of character to your interior, making it a true talking point.

Originating from Afghanistan, this contemporary piece carries the proud heritage of regional weaving traditions into the modern home. It represents a beautiful blend of age-old skill and fresh design, giving you a piece of genuine provenance to enjoy every day.

The tradition of Kilim weaving in Afghanistan is deeply rooted in the nomadic and village lifestyles of the region. Historically, these flatwoven textiles were created not just as floor coverings, but as functional art for daily life, serving as blankets, saddlebags, and protective tent hangings that could easily be packed and moved.

Unlike piled rugs, a Kilim is created using a flatweave technique where the horizontal weft threads are tightly woven through the vertical warp threads. This method produces a lightweight, reversible textile with a clean profile that is highly durable and easy to maintain, making it ideal for active households.

The design of this piece features the classic geometric diamond motifs and stepped patterns that define traditional Afghan flatweaves. Each geometric shape and colour shift tells a story of regional identity, with warm earth tones and contrasting shades creating a vibrant visual rhythm across the surface.

Today, Afghan Kilims are highly valued by collectors and design enthusiasts alike for their graphic appeal and cultural depth. Owning one means bringing a piece of living history into your home, celebrating a craft that has been passed down through generations of weaving families.

This flatweave is hand-woven by skilled artisans in Afghanistan, using techniques that require great patience and precision. Every single thread is interlaced by hand, creating a tight and durable structure that machine-made alternatives simply cannot match.

With a weight of 2.2 kg for its 180 x 124 cm size, this piece demonstrates a dense and lightweight weave. This balance of weight and size shows the skill of the weaver, who has created a flatweave that lies flat on the floor while remaining easy to move and clean.

The creation of a hand-woven piece of this size represents weeks of focused physical work. By choosing a handmade flatweave, you are supporting the continuation of traditional artisanal skills and acquiring a piece made with genuine human care.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
