As a one-of-a-kind piece, this rug carries a unique character that cannot be replicated. No two rugs are identical, meaning this exact design will never be made again, giving you a truly individual piece of textile art for your home.

Hand-woven in Afghanistan, the rug showcases the rich provenance of regional weaving. This contemporary piece, aged between 0 and 20 years, combines traditional craftsmanship with a modern aesthetic to suit contemporary living spaces.

Kilim Ariana rugs originate from the historic weaving regions of Afghanistan, where flatwoven textiles have been crafted for generations. Traditionally made by nomadic and village weavers, these pieces served both functional and decorative purposes in daily life.

The term Kilim refers to a pileless, flatwoven rug. By tightly weaving the wool threads together, artisans create a reversible and highly durable structure. This traditional method ensures the rug remains lightweight while offering excellent longevity.

The design language of this piece is defined by bold geometric diamond motifs and stepped zig-zag bands. These patterns are characteristic of Afghan Kilims, where weavers use geometric symbols to represent natural elements and personal stories, rendered here in a rich multicoloured palette.

Owning an authentic Afghan Kilim connects your home to a centuries-old craft tradition. Highly valued by collectors for their rustic charm and structural integrity, these rugs represent a lasting heritage of human skill and cultural expression.

This rug is hand-woven using traditional flatweaving techniques in Afghanistan. The artisan manually interlaces the wool threads, a process requiring high levels of skill and patience to create the intricate geometric patterns.

Weighing 2.9 kg and measuring 199 x 146 cm, the rug represents a significant investment of time and physical effort. The flatweave construction produces a durable yet lightweight textile that is easy to move and maintain while holding its shape over time.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
