Kelim Ariana Trend - A Warm Welcome for Your Home

Handwoven in Afghanistan, this one-of-a-kind Kelim Ariana Trend rug brings warmth and character to your floor with its rich tribal motifs and natural wool texture.

This handwoven Kilim offers a low 5 mm thickness that makes it highly practical for busy spaces, fitting easily under doors and furniture while providing a flat, stable surface underfoot.

Crafted entirely from wool, the rug provides a natural warmth and a pleasingly rustic texture that feels grounding in any room.

As a truly one-of-a-kind piece, this rug carries its own distinct personality, meaning no other home will ever have the exact same design or colour variation.

Originating from the weaving traditions of Afghanistan, this contemporary piece blends age-old tribal patterns with a modern sensibility to create a functional work of art.

Design

A structured geometric layout featuring interlocking diamonds and traditional tribal motifs in beige, pink, and blue.

The Kilim weaving tradition in Afghanistan is deeply rooted in nomadic and village life, where flatwoven textiles served both practical and decorative purposes in the home. The Ariana style represents a refined continuation of these regional techniques, adapting traditional layouts for contemporary interiors.

Unlike piled rugs, a Kilim is created by tightly interweaving the warp and weft strands to produce a flat, reversible surface. This traditional hand-weaving method results in a lightweight yet incredibly durable textile that can withstand generations of use.

The visual language of this piece is defined by repeating diamond patterns and tribal motifs, arranged in structured rows across a warm beige field. The interplay of soft pinks, blues, and greens against the earthy tones showcases the weaver's skill in balancing complex geometric forms.

Owning an authentic Afghan Kilim means bringing a piece of living history into your home. Each rug is a personal expression of the weaver's artistry, making it a highly valued acquisition for those who appreciate genuine craft and cultural heritage.

This Kilim is hand woven by skilled artisans in Afghanistan, using traditional techniques that require immense patience and precision. The flatweave construction is created by hand-threading the wool, a process that demands a highly trained eye to keep the geometric patterns perfectly aligned.

Weighing 3 kg for its 198 x 153 cm size, the rug demonstrates a tight, dense weave that ensures structural integrity and longevity. This substantial weight for a flatweave reflects the quality of the wool used and the tightness of the weave, which prevents the rug from shifting easily.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
