Kelim rugs have a long and storied history rooted in the nomadic and village traditions of the Middle East and Central Asia. Originally created by indigenous communities for practical warmth and shelter, these flatwoven textiles have evolved into cherished decorative pieces valued for their graphic appeal and cultural authenticity.

The flatwoven construction means the rug has no pile, created instead by tightly interweaving the warp and weft threads to produce a durable, lightweight textile with a clean finish on both sides.

This rug features a bold geometric pattern defined by repeating shapes and contrasting tones, showcasing the classic design language characteristic of Afghan kelim traditions.

Owning a piece from this tradition means welcoming a tangible link to centuries-old textile artistry, celebrating the skill and cultural heritage preserved by modern artisans.

This rug is entirely hand woven by skilled artisans who use traditional flatweaving techniques passed down through generations. The process requires remarkable precision and patience, with every strand carefully worked into the foundation.

Weighing 6.4 kg across its 208 by 153 cm dimensions, this piece reflects a dense and substantial construction that speaks to the considerable human effort and time invested in its creation.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.

Cotton

Cotton is a natural material that makes them a suitable option for people with allergies. The material is soft, durable and resilient, which makes them practical and comfortable for high-traffic areas such as the hallway, kitchen, and bathroom.
