Moud rugs originate from the town of Moud, situated in the Khorasan province of the Middle East. This region has a long-standing reputation for producing some of the most refined and sophisticated floor coverings, often incorporating a blend of traditional tribal aesthetics with a more formal, court-inspired elegance.

The term Moud refers not only to the origin but also to a specific design tradition that values balance and harmony. These rugs are typically constructed with a sturdy foundation, using high-quality materials that provide the necessary strength for the fine, tight knots that define their polished look and impressive longevity.

Signature design elements of the Moud style often include the iconic Herati motif, a pattern of a central flower surrounded by leaves, which is frequently repeated across the field. The borders are often broad and decorated with intricate floral vines, creating a frame that complements the central field and adds to the overall sense of depth and complexity.

Collectors value Moud rugs for their consistent quality and the way they bridge the gap between rural weaving traditions and urban design sophistication. Owning such a piece is an investment in cultural heritage, representing a level of skill and artistic dedication that has been preserved and passed down through generations of families.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate months of focused effort to its creation. By tying each individual knot by hand, the weavers achieve a level of structural integrity and pattern complexity that simply cannot be matched by any machine-made alternative.

The 250,000 knots per m2 represent a significant investment in time and human skill. This density not only allows for the fine, rhythmic details characteristic of the Moud style but also creates a robust, heavy foundation that ensures the rug will withstand decades of wear while maintaining its shape and plush texture.

With a total weight of 23.5 kg, this rug demonstrates the substantial amount of high-quality material woven into its construction. This weight is a direct indicator of the density of the pile and the strength of the foundation, confirming that this is a premium, long-lasting piece built with care and precision.
