The dense, low-profile pile is crafted from high-quality wool, offering a smooth and resilient surface that feels substantial and warm. Every inch of the rug showcases a remarkable level of detail, with delicate floral motifs and a central medallion that reveal the skill of its creation.

Because this is a one-of-a-kind piece, you are acquiring an item that is entirely unique. No two rugs from this region are exactly alike, meaning that once this specific example is chosen, it will never be recreated, making it a truly special addition to your home.

The intricate patterns are rendered with exceptional clarity, a hallmark of the fine construction used in this piece. This density not only ensures a sharp, defined aesthetic but also provides a durable surface that will maintain its beauty and character for years to come.

Nain rugs originate from the historic city of Nain in the Middle East, a town that transitioned from producing fine wool garments to creating some of the most sought-after rugs in the world during the early 20th century. These pieces are celebrated for their sophisticated colour palettes and intricate, harmonious designs.

The term 9La refers to the number of threads used in the fringe, which serves as a classification of the rug's quality and fineness. A 9La designation indicates a high degree of precision, where the wool is expertly combined with fine cotton to create a structure that is both remarkably durable and aesthetically refined.

The signature design of a Nain rug typically features a central medallion surrounded by dense, flowing floral sprays and arabesques. The use of soft, light-toned fields contrasted with rich blues or deep ivories creates an elegant, balanced look that is instantly recognisable to enthusiasts and collectors alike.

Owning a Nain rug is an investment in cultural heritage and exceptional craftsmanship. These pieces are highly valued for their ability to bring a sense of history and quiet luxury to a room, representing a standard of beauty and skill that remains a benchmark for fine rug-making today.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who have mastered a tradition passed down through generations. The process is incredibly labour-intensive, requiring months of dedicated focus to tie each individual knot by hand, ensuring the integrity and longevity of the final piece.

With a density of 490,000 knots per m2, the rug contains over 4.3 million individual knots. This high knot count is the key to its refined appearance, allowing for the complex, flowing curves of the floral designs and the crisp precision of the borders that define the Nain style.

The substantial weight of 26.6 kg further speaks to the quality of the materials and the density of the construction. Every aspect of this rug, from the initial tensioning of the foundation to the final trimming of the pile, is handled with a level of care that ensures a premium, lasting floor covering.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.

Cotton

Cotton is a natural material that makes them a suitable option for people with allergies. The material is soft, durable and resilient, which makes them practical and comfortable for high-traffic areas such as the hallway, kitchen, and bathroom.

Silk

Silk is an exclusive natural fibre that provides a soft and shiny feeling to rugs. The material can also be used to enhance details in wool rugs and in some, silk can make up the entire pile and sometimes even the warp. Elegant rugs with rich details can only be made with silk because other fibres are too thick for this purpose. Silk is a durable and hard-wearing fibre that lasts a long time and becomes more beautiful over time. Due to its sensitivity to liquids, it is advisable to refrain from positioning the rug in areas where there is a high likelihood of moisture or potential spills.
