Dark yellow / Black117 x 198 cm

Nain rugs hail from the city of Nain in the Middle East, a region with a rich history of textile production. Originally known for their fine wool garments, the artisans of Nain shifted their focus to rug weaving in the early 20th century, quickly gaining a reputation for creating some of the most refined and sophisticated floor coverings in the world.

The quality of a Nain rug is often defined by the precision of its weave. These rugs are highly sought after for their dense, durable construction which allows for incredibly detailed patterns. The fineness of the knotting is a key indicator of quality, as it enables the weaver to execute complex curves and delicate floral motifs with remarkable clarity.

Design-wise, Nain rugs are famous for their elegant, flowing floral patterns and central medallions. They often feature a balanced composition that feels both formal and inviting. The colour palette typically leans toward sophisticated, harmonious tones, making this black and blue example a striking and slightly more dramatic interpretation of the classic Nain aesthetic.

Owning a Nain rug is an investment in cultural heritage and human skill. These pieces are cherished by collectors and homeowners alike for their ability to blend traditional artistry with a clean, modern sensibility. To bring a Nain rug into your home is to celebrate a long-standing tradition of beauty and meticulous hand-craftsmanship.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans, a process that represents a profound commitment to traditional craft. With approximately 370,000 knots placed individually by hand across its 198 by 117 cm surface, the creation of this piece is a labour-intensive journey that ensures exceptional pile density and pattern sharpness.

The weight of 9.3 kg is a testament to the generous use of premium materials and the density of the construction. This substantial build is a hallmark of quality, indicating that the rug is built to last and provides a stable, luxurious foundation that is far superior to machine-made alternatives.

The time and human effort invested in this rug are evident in the clarity of the design and the tightness of the weave. By choosing a hand-knotted piece, you are supporting a heritage of skill where each movement of the weaver's hands contributes to the durability and enduring beauty of your final product.
