The tradition of rug weaving in the Middle East is deeply rooted in regional history, where nomadic tribes have long used weaving as both a functional necessity and a form of cultural expression. These rugs often draw inspiration from local landscapes and stories, evolving over centuries to incorporate both traditional tribal aesthetics and more refined, city-based designs.

The construction of these rugs relies on a foundation of cotton, which provides the necessary stability for the dense Wool pile. This combination of materials is deliberate, as it creates a rug that is both soft to the touch and structurally sound, capable of lying flat and resisting wear in high-traffic areas of the home.

Signature elements of this style often include repeating geometric motifs, such as the medallion designs seen here. These symbols are not merely decorative but are part of a visual vocabulary passed down through generations, often framed by complex, multi-layered borders that define the field and provide a sense of balance.

Owning a rug from the Middle East is more than just a design choice; it is an appreciation of a heritage that values human skill and patience above all else. These pieces are collected for their ability to carry the spirit of their origin into a modern home, offering a connection to a craft that remains largely unchanged by the passage of time.

Each rug is carefully hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate significant time and precision to every single thread. This labour-intensive process requires months of focused work, ensuring that the final piece is not only beautiful but also robust enough to withstand years of use.

With a density of 160,000 knots per m2, the rug displays a remarkable level of pattern clarity and pile density. This high knot count is a hallmark of quality, ensuring that the rug remains firm and resilient, maintaining its structure and detail far better than mass-produced alternatives.

The substantial weight of 13.6 kg across its 242 x 176 cm frame is a direct result of the generous amount of Wool used in its creation. This weight is a clear indicator of the density of the weave, providing a sturdy, high-quality foundation that you can see and feel in the rug's substantial handle.
