Owning this piece means acquiring a truly one-of-a-kind work of art. No two rugs from this region are ever identical, and this specific runner will never be produced again, ensuring that your interior decor remains entirely personal and distinct.

Tabriz rugs originate from one of the oldest rug-weaving centres in the Middle East, located in the historic city of Tabriz. This region has served as a vital hub along the Silk Road for centuries, fostering a rich tradition of artistic exchange that has influenced rug designs across the globe.

The history of Tabriz weaving is defined by its commitment to technical excellence and design variety. Unlike many other regional styles that focus on a single, repetitive pattern, Tabriz rugs are celebrated for their wide range of motifs, including intricate floral patterns, medallions, and even pictorial scenes that draw on local literature and history.

The signature design elements often feature a central medallion surrounded by a field of densely woven vines, flowers, and palmettes. The borders are typically formal and balanced, providing a strong frame for the central composition. These rugs are highly esteemed for their fine detail and the harmonious way they integrate complex elements into a cohesive whole.

Collectors value these rugs not only for their beauty but for their cultural significance as embodiments of a long-standing craft tradition. Owning a Tabriz rug is an investment in a legacy of skill, representing a connection to a storied past where every knot and colour choice reflects generations of refinement and artistic dedication.

This Tabriz runner is created through a painstaking hand-knotted process that requires immense skill and patience. Each individual knot is tied by hand, a method that ensures the structural integrity and longevity of the rug while allowing for the precise, complex detailing seen in its floral design.

The weight of 13.4 kg across its 385 x 85 cm dimensions speaks to the density of the construction and the generous amount of material used. This robust foundation not only contributes to the rug's weight but also ensures it lays flat and holds its shape exceptionally well over time.

Given the dimensions and the density of the hand-knotted construction, this rug represents hundreds of hours of dedicated work by artisans. This labour-intensive process is what gives the runner its exceptional durability and the rich, tactile quality that defines its character.

The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean.
