The Tafresch rug is a distinguished member of the broader Hamadan weaving tradition, originating from the mountainous regions of the Middle East. These rugs are named after the town of Tafresh, a historic centre known for its specific approach to weaving and its commitment to preserving regional design identities that have flourished for centuries.

Crafted with a focus on durability, these rugs are traditionally made using high-quality Wool that is spun and dyed locally. The weave is typically robust, designed to withstand the rigours of daily life in a family home. This focus on practical, long-lasting construction is a hallmark of the wider Hamadan category, which is prized by collectors for its reliability.

The design language of a Tafresch rug is defined by its vibrant, often floral-inspired motifs, which are frequently arranged around a central medallion or scattered across a deep-toned field. The borders are typically wide and filled with geometric or botanical patterns that frame the composition, providing a sense of balance and harmony that is classic to this specific weaving tradition.

Owning a piece from this region is an opportunity to connect with a rich cultural legacy. These rugs are highly valued for their authenticity and the skill required to produce them, representing a tradition where the weaver's personal touch is evident in every knot. By choosing this rug, you are preserving a craft that values heritage and human skill above all else.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate months of focused effort to its creation. Every single strand of Wool is carefully tied onto a sturdy Cotton foundation, a time-honoured process that ensures the rug's structural integrity and longevity.

With a weight of 9.8 kg, this rug demonstrates the generous use of quality materials and the dense, sturdy construction that defines premium hand-knotted pieces. This substantial weight is a clear indicator of the human effort and precision invested in every inch of the weaving process.

The hand-knotted technique allows for the intricate floral patterns and crisp borders that characterise this style. This dedication to craft results in a durable pile that holds its shape and beauty, reflecting the high standards of traditional weaving techniques passed down through generations.
