Brown / Dark red157 x 210 cm

The Varamin region is celebrated for its contribution to the rich tapestry of Middle Eastern weaving traditions. Known for producing rugs of exceptional structure and refined aesthetic, these pieces are deeply rooted in the artistic heritage of the region, where weaving is considered a high form of cultural expression passed down through generations.

The term 'Sarouk' refers to a style of weaving that emphasises durability and ornate, curvilinear patterns. These rugs are recognised for their robust construction, which often utilises a high density of knots to create a dense, luxurious pile. This technical approach ensures that the intricate floral designs remain clear and vibrant, even after years of regular use.

Signature elements of this tradition include elaborate floral arrangements, often featuring sprawling vines and delicate blossoms that create a sense of movement across the field. The borders are typically formal and balanced, providing a structured frame for the more organic shapes found within the central area, resulting in a design that feels both complex and orderly.

Collecting a rug from this tradition is an investment in artistry and history. These pieces are highly valued not only for their visual beauty but for the skill and heritage they represent. By bringing one into your home, you are preserving a craft tradition that prioritises quality and longevity above all else.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted, a process that requires immense patience and precision from skilled artisans. With a density of 360,000 knots per m2, the creation of this rug involves hundreds of thousands of individual, calculated movements, resulting in a fine, sharp design and a remarkably resilient pile that is built to endure.

The complexity of the floral motifs requires a high level of expertise to execute correctly, as each knot must be placed with exact tension to maintain the rug's shape and clarity. This intensive labour ensures that the finished product is not only a decorative item but a high-performance floor covering capable of withstanding years of use.

Given its size and the sheer density of the knots, this piece represents months of dedicated work. The weight of 13.2 kg reflects the generous amount of high-quality materials used in its foundation and pile, serving as a testament to the time and effort invested in its creation.
