Small bedroom rugs under 160 cm. Free delivery and returns.

Small bedroom rugs measure under 160 cm on their longest side, so they work beside a bed rather than under it. 60 x 90 cm and 80 x 120 cm run along most of a double mattress, and most people buy a pair. At the foot of the bed, 100 x 150 cm gives room to sit and get dressed. For a border showing on both sides, see all bedroom rugs.

Choosing a small bedroom rug

Beside a bed the material matters more than the pattern, because this is the rug you stand on barefoot before anything else. Wool is the steady all-rounder — warm, naturally springy and slow to flatten in the spot you step on daily, which is why small wool rugs for bedrooms are the most common choice at this size. High-pile and shaggy designs feel softest underfoot, and under 160 cm the upkeep stays manageable. Cotton is lighter, easy to shake out and often machine washable. Flatweaves and jute sit lowest and clear a door that opens inwards. Small rugs also travel across hard floors more easily than heavy ones, so add an anti-slip underlay for added stability. For the same sizes elsewhere in the home, see small rugs.

Frequently asked questions

60 x 90 cm and 80 x 120 cm are the two bedside sizes to choose between. Pick one that runs along most of the mattress, so you land on it whichever way you get up. In a smaller room, a single rug on the side you use most is usually enough.

No. Under 160 cm, a rug won’t reach past both sides of a double or king, so most of it stays hidden beneath the bed. For a visible border to step onto, you need a medium (160–229 cm) or large (230–349 cm) bedroom rug. Small sizes work beside, in front of, or at the foot of the bed.

A matching pair, one on each side, is the usual answer for a double bed. It puts softness where you step without covering the floor. Buy them at the same time if you want a close match, as shades can differ slightly between batches, particularly on handwoven designs.

Wool is still the best all-rounder, but at smaller sizes pile height matters more than on a large bedroom rug: with less surface area to make an impression, a high-pile or shaggy wool does more of the work to make the space feel soft and finished. Cotton is a good lightweight, washable option if you want to swap it out often — easier to manage at this size. Jute holds its shape well for a small accent rug, but keep it away from the exact spot your feet land getting out of bed; it’s better used at the foot of the bed or beside a nightstand than as the main step-out rug.

It can. A small bedroom rug has less weight holding it down and takes a sideways push every morning. An anti-slip underlay keeps it in place and adds some cushioning.

Some of them. Machine washable designs are mostly cotton, and under 160 cm they’re far more likely to fit a domestic drum than a larger rug, check the care label and your machine’s capacity before buying. Wool and jute are spot-clean only: blot spills rather than rubbing, and hoover regularly.
